Campbell Coachworks is literally surrounded by Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, a beautiful, yet mysterious destination. With over six hundred thousand acres of pristine desert wilderness, the park attracts a wide variety of visitors including hikers, off-roaders and star gazers each year. Within it’s rugged and remote Southern California boundaries, there have been well documented accounts of an unwelcome visitor going back to the 1870’s.

Standing over 9 feet tall, muscular and covered in white fur with glowing red eyes, there is a beast lurking among the ocotillo known as “The Borrego Sandman”. Remaining a local legend until July of 1964 when Desert Magazine published a now infamous article called “The Abominable Sandman of Borrego” by a credible eyewitness. The article brought attention from all over the globe and alert park visitors have had sightings ever since.

Also known as The Ranchita Yeti and The Yucca Man, The Borrego Sandman roams the sandy low desert and mountain forests of a paranormal hotbed called “The Borrego Triangle” with Borrego Springs at its center.
